Why do Pass Plus?

What is Pass Plus?  It is a scheme devised by the DVSA to develop the skills and knowledge of newly qualified drivers.  Delivered by an ADI the six modules cover the following : Motorway, Night time, town, rural , dual carriageways and all weather driving.  I deliver the course in two 3 hour slots going on the motorway in both sessions.  I will cover all the above but can be tailored to suit the specific requirements of the driver.  The training can be completed in my car or your own car.  I believe the benefits will consolidate your driving skills and give you more confidence on more complicated road systems and motorway driving.  Cumbria County Council support the scheme and will provide a voucher worth £100 towards your training.  You can apply for a voucher if you are a Cumbrian resident, aged between 17 and 24 years old and within 12 months of passing your driving test.  http://www.crsp.co.uk/CRSP/passplus.asp

The course is assessed by me, so there is no test at the end.  Some insurance companies may give a discount to pupils who have completed the Pass Plus scheme.  Statistics show that newly qualified drivers are more likely to have an accident within their first two years of driving than at any other time in their driving career.  Two young people die every day in crashes in Great Britain.  In their first year of driving, one driver in five is involved in a crash.  Pass Plus helps you to gain experience safely, become a more skillful driver, develop a positive driving style and reduce the risk of being involved in an accident.  Ellen Lister, newly qualified driver in March 2019 completed her Pass Plus in July.  She said ‘The course really helped me with my driving and I now feel confident to go on Motorways by myself.’
